Alright, let's begin... I'll do all the style junk later
Hello! I'm Bea, and this is my fansite for "We Become What We Behold" by Nicky Case, a short game about the news.
WBWWB has been one of my longest lasting interests so far and it means so much to me despite being a 5-minute game that is played by mostly toddlers on free game websites.
It doesn't matter, it resides in a special place in my heart, so why not make a fansite for it?
If you wanna check it out, play it on itch.io! (Check out Nicky's other works too while you're at it!)
Been fixating on it since 1/24/24 @ 3:57 PM. Take notes, people!
We Become What We Behold is a short game made by Nicky Case, originally released on Kongregate and itch.io on October 18th, 2016. It exploded in popularity and is still, to this day, one of the most popular games on the short n' stupid looking indie projects corner of the internet. WBWWB acts as a satirical summary of events such as spread of violent propaganda that occured in 2016, which inspired Nicky to create this game you can play in only a few minutes.
I recommend playing this game on a blind run. Watching a gameplay will have the same effect, but doing it yourself would be a pinch more effective methinks!
Just knowing that someone spent 2 months of their life to create this is charming to me, haha. I don't know why. I have no clue if Nicky is proud of this game or thinks about it 8 years later, but just know that I am so grateful that WBWWB exists. It explores the topic of news cycles and how the perspectives of individuals, then eventually swarms of people, change based on the way news is described. Wording and accuracy is crucial when it comes to spreading news, so one little misunderstanding can branch off into a bigger, crazier catastrophe that you never would've expected to grow into something gruesome.
I think the way Nicky explained it is PERFECT; It's easy to comprehend and doesn't take a chunk of time out of your day.
